He was the son of Sven Larsson Freeberg of Fröbbestorp, Torsas, Kalmar lan, Småland, Sweden, and Hilda Sophia Karlsdotter of Visseljerda, Kalmar lan, Smaland, Sweden. Never married. Freeberg (age 19) born in Minnesota, a stenographer at the railroad, and Alvin Freeberg (age 16) born in Montana. The 1930 U. S. Census taken on April 19, 1930, shows Alvin W. Frieberg (age 26) born in Montana to Swedish-born parents is an unmarried Odd Jobs Laborer renting as a Lodger at 615 Walnut Street, 6th Ward, City of St. Louis, St. Louis Co., MO. Alvin Valdemar Freeberg died July 21, 1974, in Oak Forest Hospital, Bremen Twp., Cook Co., IL, at age 70. Death was due to a Basil Skull Fracture and complications of Pneumonia when he suffered an accidental fall on a sidewalk that occurred at 1:30 P. M. on June 16, 1974. His residence was in Chicago, and the accident was not work related. He was buried August 13, 1974, in Archer Woods Cemetery, Willow Springs, IL. Obituary for Hilda Sofia Freeberg: Services Held For Late Mrs. Freeberg Monday Afternoon Neighbors And Friends Gather With Relatives To Pay Their Respects April (4-11-1933) Funeral Services were held on Monday afternoon at the Graves Chapel in memory of the late Mrs. Hilda Sofia Freeberg, highly respected and esteemed citizen of the city, who passed away on last Friday morning. The services were in charge of the Rev: C. J. Johnson, pastor of the First Lutheran church. Interment was made in the Miles City cemetery. Mrs. Freeberg was preceded in death by her husband, Swan L. Freeberg on Jan 21, 1924. She was born at Visseljerda, Calmar Lan, Sweden, on May 28, 1863, and would have reached seventy years of age had she lived until the 28th of next month. Six children survive, including Mrs. Alma Johnson and sons, Oscar and Joseph, all of Seattle Wash., Albert of Miles City, Mrs. Gladys Cain of Eden Valley, Minn., and Alvin of St. Louis, Mo. The services at the chapel were deeply impressive. Floral tributes carried their silent and beautiful messages of sorrow over her passing. They were the expressions of the esteem and regard extended by relatives and friends who valued the life and influence of Mrs. Freeberg. The musical renditions were appropriately expressive also of the sympathy felt and to sorrow experienced because Mrs. Freeberg's life had been brought to a close. The words of the officiating minister served in a measure to assuage the natural grief felt because of her passing. The honorary escort at the funeral services included W. N. Hawkins and Nils Lindeberg, who were old time friends of Mrs. Freeberg. The regular pallbearers were Alf Johnson, Wilbur Turner, John Doull, John Swanson, O. B. Reynolds and Sam Carlson. |
