Victor Joseph LeClair was born August 12, 1875 in French Canada, and died after 1930 in Unknown. He was the son of French Canadian-born parents.

Cora Mae Abbey was born April 26, 1876, in Wisconsin and died December 5, 1955, in Superior, Douglas Co., WI, at age 79. She was the daughter of Isaac Abbey of Hope Twp., Durham Co., Canada West and Mary Allen of Wisconsin.

Victor and Cora were married July 15, 1894, in Oneida Co., WI.

Victor and Cora had at least one child:

  1. Ernest Victor LeClair: Born April 9, 1895 in Rhinelander, Oneida Co., WI; Died April 10, 1944 in Unknown (age 49).

Ernest is buried in Greenwood Cemetery, 8402 Tower Ave, Superior, Douglas Co., WI  54880

The 1880 U. S. Census taken on June 19, 1880 shows Isack Abbey (age 30) born in Canada is a furnace worker living in Williamstown Twp., Dodge Co., WI. Living with him are his wife Mary Abbey (age 22) born in Wisconsin of New York parents, as well as their children Alvin Abbey (age 5), Cora Abbey (age 4), and William Abbey (age 5/12). All the children were born in Wisconsin.

The 1895 Wisconsin State Census dated June 20, 1895 shows J. V. LeClaire is living in the City of West Superior, Douglas Co., WI. Also living there is one female.

Census taken on June 9, 1900 shows Victor Ladelair (age 24) born August 1875 in French Canada to French-Canadian parents and having emigrated in 1879 with Pa Citizenship is a Day Laborer boarding in a boarding house on Second Street, City of Bayfield, Bayfield Co., WI. Living with him is his wife of six years, Cora M. Ladelair (age 24) born April 1876 in Wisconsin to English-Canadian and Wisconsin-born parents, with the only child born to her still living. Their child is: Ernest V. Ladelair (age 5) born April 1895 in Wisconsin to French-Canadian and Wisconsin-born parents. Census taken on April 26, 1910 shows Frank LeClaire (age 36) born in Wisconsin to Michigan-born parents is an unmarried Saloon Bartender Rooming at 325 ____, 4th Ward, City of Superior, Douglas Co., WI. Others also room at this address. Ida M. Howard lives nearby at 321 Tower Avenue.

On June 5, 1917 the WWI Draft Registration showed Ernest Victor LeClair (age 22) listed as Single, unemployed and living at 515 Grand, Superior, Douglas Co., WI. He had Medium Height, Medium Build, Light Blue Eyes and Light Brown Hair.

On September 12, 1918 the WWI Draft Registration showed Victor Joseph LeClair living at 921 N. 5th Street, Superior, Douglas Co., WI. He had Medium Height, Slight Build, Blue Eyes and Gray Hair. His wife is Cora. He is a Cook for Isaac Abby. Leigh Larson note: Isaac Abbey is the father of Cora (Abbey) LeClair.

On September 12, 1918 the WWI Draft Registration showed Frank Joseph LeClair (age 45) born June 20, 1873 is unmarried and living at 165 Main Street, Superior, Douglas Co., WI. He had Short Height, Medium Build, Blue Eyes and Dark Hair.

Census taken on January 5, 1920 shows Victor LeClair (age 45) born in French Canada to French Canadian-born parents and having emigrated in 1876 and naturalized citizen is a Laborer renting his home and is living at 914 Ogden Avenue, Superior, Douglas Co., WI. Living with him is his wife, Cora LeClair (age 44) born in Wisconsin to English Canadian and Wisconsin-born parents. Also living there is his unmarried son, Earnest LeClair (age 24) born in Wisconsin to French Canadian and Wisconsin-born parents, an Electrician.
