was separated from her husband when she died from a fall from a second story
window of the Earl Hotel, Seattle, on June 13, 1950. died in June 1950. She

Held For Clayton Freeberg
Funeral
services were held Sunday at 2 o'clock for Clayton Freeberg, 6-year-old son of
Mr. and Mrs. Joseph E. Freeberg, 9742 42nd Ave. S. W., at the chapel of Daniels
& Brinton. The sermon was preached by the Rev. Mr. Burgess of the Fauntleroy
Church and interment was made in Forest Lawn Cemetery. He died Friday, November
9. Besides his parents he is survived by two sisters, Dolores and Lucille, and
three brothers, Donald, Kenneth and Aaron.

(Kenneth) and Aaron Freeberg. Joseph Emanuel Freeberg had a fourth
son, Donald, but he has passed away. Kenneth, Aaron and Donald
"Don" Freeberg served in WWII. Donald "Don" Freeberg was in the
army air force as an airplane mechanic. His entire duty was in
the States. Aaron Freeberg was (from late 1942) in the submarine
division. Kenneth Freeberg, who Per Carlzon met the summer of
2006, served in the
navy from February 1941 until autumn 1945.
Lucille Young in
Seattle says her grandfather, Sven, and Leigh Larson's ancestor, Olaus, were
brothers. Per Carlzon met Lucille and her husband Brad II and some of
their descendants in the summer of 2006. Don and his wife Mernie
provided transportation. Joseph Emanuel Freeberg was the first of Sven and
Hilda's children to be born in United States. Three (Alma, Oscar and
Albert) were born in Sweden. Joseph Freeberg started to work at
the railway in Miles City, Montana, and then later moved to
Seattle where he was a mailman. During WWII Joseph Freeberg had
other assignments. Lucille writes "Our father was a civil
defense captain, on one of his many nightly? (1944) he
collapsed and fell to the ground. His fellow wardens called for
an ambulance and he was taken to the hospital. He died that
night. My father was a very active and patriotic man. He was
president of the local community club, an officer in the Letter
Carrier's Association, a civil defense captain and a volunteer
fireman for the local district and then of course he worried
about the 3 boys in the service."

Seattle High school. He graduated from West Seattle High school

Kenneth Garvin Freeberg of
Silverdale Oct. 14, 1923 to June 26, 2011
Kenneth Garvin Freeberg, 87,
was one of the last remaining Pearl Harbor Survivors in the
Kitsap area. He peacefully passed away after a brief two-week
illness of a fastgrowing liver cancer. He died on June 26th, a
beautiful Sunday morning with his family surrounding him. Kenny
was born to Joseph and Florence (Schliesman) Freeberg on October
14, 1923. He was raised in Seattle with his brothers and
sisters. At the age of 17 he entered the Navy and served 5 years
which included the bombing of Pearl Harbor in December of 1941.
Kenny married Marie Forland in 1951. They resided all of their
60 year marriage in Kitsap County. He built their beautiful home
on the Hood Canal which they lived in for 40 years before living
this last year at Crista Shores. Kenny worked 38 years for
Pacific Northwest Bell. Kenny enjoyed fishing and hunting. He
enjoyed many friendships, he never met a person who didn't
become his friend. Kenny had a special love of dogs, he had many
over his lifetime. Kenny was noted for his big beautiful smile
and striking good looks. Kenny enjoyed finding treasures at
garage sales, he loved the old-time electronic items and phones.
Kenny was known for his love of fixing things with duct tape and
always having cough drops in his pockets and snacking on black
licorice. The highlight of Kenny's life was when his son Shawn
was born in 1965. Kenny and Marie received a call from the
doctor announcing the good news that there was a baby boy to
bring home and love. Shawn blessed them with their only
grandchild, Shelby Marie, in 2001. Kenny is survived by his wife
Marie, his son Shawn, granddaughter Shelby, daughter-in-law
Cheryl and her children. He is survived by his brother Aaron
Freeberg (wife Cora Jean), sister Lucille Young (husband Brad),
sister June Jochum (husband Leo), brother James Freeberg (wife
Joanne), and his many nieces and nephews. Kenny was preceded in
death by his brothers Don and Clayton Freeberg, and his sister
Delores Snow. A special thank-you from the Freeberg family to
Hospice of Kitsap County for their incredible support through
Kenny's final days.
