Scottsdale Sunrise, March 4, 2008: 6:50 AM on left; 7:00 AM on right. While driving to breakfast a few days ago, I saw someone with a camera in his hands standing on the side of Pima Road in north Scottsdale. I wondered what he might be doing, until I looked to the east and saw what he had been waiting for. It was a glorious Arizona sunrise, but with the rising sun bisecting the twin mountain peaks. It was so dramatic that I decided to do it myself. I am amazed what positioning and timing can do to make even everyday scenes truly extraordinary.
