Myrel G. Chaffin was born August 24, 1901, in Inavale Twp., Webster Co., NE, and died December 8, 1997, in Blue Hill, Webster Co., NE, at age 96. She was the daughter of Thomas Jefferson Chaffin Jr. of Blandinsville Twp., McDonough Co., IL, and Fannie Margaret Chaplin of McDonough Co., IL.

Living with him is his wife, Merle G. Abby (age 28) born in Nebraska to Illinois-born parents and first married at age 18. Also living there is his daughter, Lois M. The Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary sent a potted poinsettia to the Veterans Hospital in Grand Island to be placed in the hospital chapel. At the Christmas party Dec. 21 with the DAV, canned food will be collected for a needy veteran's family. Supper hostesses will be Mrs. Carl Craft, Mrs. William Letson, Mrs. Lloyd Schultz and Mrs. Walter Schultz. Mr. and Mrs. Walter Abbey are commanders of the two groups.
