Frederick (Christian Friedrich?) "Fred" Grill was born November 18, 1834, in Württemberg, Germany, and died February 21, 1906, in Campbellsport, Fond du Lac Co., WI, at age 71. He was the son of Unknown. Frederick served in the New Jersey Infantry during the Civil War.

Catherine Scheidel was born October 1838 in the town of Grittvil, Alsace-Lorraine, France, and died March 1, 1907, in Campbellsport, Fond du Lac Co., WI, at age 68. She was the daughter of Michael M. Scheidel, Sr. and Marguerithe Heil, both of Alsace-Lorraine, France.

Fred and Catherine were married May 6, 1857, in Fond du Lac Co., WI.

By 1910, son Charles Grill (born about 1906) is an inmate of Northern Colony and Training School, Chippewa Co., WI, and remained there as of 1930.
