James Albert Wright (1857- ) Pharmacist, municipal official. Born in Durham County, Ontario, on 14 November 1857, son of Charles and Elizabeth Wright, the family emigrated to Canada and settled on a farmstead at Durham about 1850. He family moved to Brussels, Ontario about 1860 and, after finishing his education, clerked in drug stores at Durham and Port Elgin. He graduated from the Ontario College of Pharmacy in 1882. He came to Manitoba in 1882 and opened a drug store at Manitou, moving a year later to Boissevain. He operated a store there until 1901 when he was appointed accountant in the Land Titles Office. In 1890 he was appointed clerk of the Rural Municipality of Morton. In 1887 he married Eliza L. Abbey of Durham County, Ontario. They had four children: Florence, James, Kathleen Edith, and Frederick. He was a member of the IOOF, the Knights of Pythias, COF and AF & AM (Doric Lodge No. 36).
