Charlotta E. "Lottie" Anderson was born January 1866 in French Canada and died January 26, 1958, in Multnomah Co., OR, at age 88. She was the daughter of Unknown parents of French Canada. She immigrated to the United States about 1880. The name of Harriett Shidell was used in the Oregon death index.

Married about 1910 to George Benjamin Boyles: Born November 24, 1883, in Pennsylvania; Died February 1, 1951, in Multnomah Co., OR (age 67). George was a Ship Carpenter in 1918 and a House Carpenter in 1920.

Charlotta E. "Lottie" (Anderson) Tempest then married John J. Shidell.

John J. Shidell was born October 7, 1870, in Oakfield Twp., Fond du Lac Co., WI, and died February 24, 1959, in Portland, Multnomah Co., OR, at age 88. He was the son of Adam William Scheidel of Alsace-Lorraine, France, and Lucinda Matilda Abbey of Hope Twp., Durham Co., Ontario, Canada.

Census taken on June 4, 1870, shows Phebe Abbie (age 44) is living in Byron Twp., Fond du Lac Co., WI as the head of household with $600 value of real estate (keeping house and born in Canada West), along with her five living children: Lucinda Abbie (age 22) keeping house, Isaac Abbie (age 20) farm laborer, William Abbie (age 17) farm laborer, Mary Jane Abbie (age 10) at school, and Charles Washington Abbie (age 8) at school. All children were born in Canada West, except for Charles Washington being born in Wisconsin.

Census taken on June 3, 1880, shows Adam Shidell (age 37) born in Germany of German-born parents is an employee in a sash factory living on Brooke Street in Fond du Lac, Fond du Lac Co., WI. Living with him is his wife Lucinda Shidell (age 31) born in Canada of Canadian and English-born parents. Also there are their children: Emma Shidell (age 13); William Shidell (age 11); John Shidell (age 9); Wallace Shidell (age 3); and Nita Shidell (age 11/12 July). All children were born in Wisconsin.

Census taken on June 3, 1880, shows Edward Tempest (age 32) born in Vermont to Scottish-born parents is a married Farmer living alone in Rudolph Twp., Wood Co., WI, and is living in the Chester Griswold family, Centralia Twp., Wood Co., WI. He is maimed, crippled, bedridden or otherwise disabled.

For awhile after his marriage, Adam Shidell continued to live in Fond du Lac Co., doing farming and teaming. Later he went to Waupun, where he engaged in farming, and in the spring of 1881 he came to Wood Co., where he had previously purchased 80 acres of wild land in Section 14, Sherry Twp. On his first coming here he lived in true pioneer state in an old logging shack that was on his farm.

The January 1, 1883, list of military pensioners living in Wood Co., WI, shows Adam Shidell (P. O. address of Milladore) is receiving $2.00 per month for Wound left arm and right side, originally allowed in August, 1880.

Tempest served as a Private in Company I, 47th Wisconsin Infantry Regiment, having enlisted January 16, 1865, and being discharged December 4, 1865, having served 10 months and 18 days, is living in Sherry, Wood Co., WI. He has a bad pain in the breast.

Tempest (age 59) born August 1840 in Vermont to Unlisted-born parents has No Occupation Listed and is renting his home and living on South Adams Street, 1st Ward, City of Green Bay,  Brown Co., WI. Living with him is his wife of 16 years, Lottie Tempest (age 34) born January 1866 in French Canada to French Canadian-born parents, with both of the children born to her still alive. Also living there are his two unmarried children, both born to Vermont and Wisconsin-born parents: Norman E. Tempest (age 14) born in Wisconsin, a Railroad Sig.; and Edna M. Tempest (age 12) born September 1887 in Canada.

CHILDREN RESCUED FROM BURNING HOUSE

A Residence at Green Bay is Totally Destroyed and Inmates Narrowly Escape.

Green Bay, Wis., Jan. 22. - (Special) -  A house owned by Louis Kalb and occupied by Edward Tempest and family was totally destroyed by fire this morning. The building is valued at $1500 and insured at $800. Several young men rescued two male children through a window.

Three Wives Want Their Freedom

Charlotte Tempest says that after 23 years of wedded life, Charles Edward Tempest deserted her in March, 1907. They were married at Grand Rapids, Wis., October 2, 1884, and have two married daughters living at Lents.

After bearing with her husband's shiftlessness from the time of their marriage at Grand Rapids, Wis., October 2, 1884, Charlotte Tempest obtained a divorce from Charles Edward Tempest yesterday morning. She said that he deserted her twice when she was sick, once nine years ago in the East, and four years ago. He is now living with his married son, by Lents. Mrs. Tempest said that the last time he left was in March, last year.
