Chase-Miller

Miss Sarah Jane Chase was married to Patrick Douglas Miller at 10:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. Donald Stannard performed the rite at Wesley Methodist Church, Manitowoc. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Marie Chase of Rt. 2, Two Rivers, and the late Wilford Chase. The groom is the son of Mrs. Vlasta A. Miller of 1216 S. 10th St., Manitowoc, and the late Capt. Vess Miller. Maid of honor was Miss Judy Chase, sister of the bride. Best man was Howard Young, brother-in-law of the groom. The couple was honored with a luncheon for the immediate families. After a wedding trip to Canada, they will reside at 1307 Marshall St., Manitowoc. The bride attended Mishicot High School and her husband attended Lincoln High School, Manitowoc. Both are employed at Mirro Aluminum Co.

Injuries Occur In Accidents

Four traffic accidents involving injuries were reported in the City of Manitowoc over the weekend, according to police reports. Vlasta Miller, 63, of 1408 S. Ninth St., Manitowoc, a passenger in the car driven by Sarah J. Miller, 33, of 1706 Madison St., Manitowoc, was treated for shock and a possible back injury after a two-car collision on Eighth Street, police said. According to police, the Miller car was stopped for traffic near the approach to the Eighth Street Bridge when an Army truck driven by Jon A. Wondrash, 23, of 3210 Monroe St., collided with the rear of the car at 1:17 p.m. Saturday. Wondrash told police that he saw the Miller auto brake lights go on but did not expect the car to make a full stop.

Vlasta A. (Val) Miller

Vlasta A. (Val) Miller, age 92, a Manitowoc resident, died Wednesday, April 6, 2005 at St. Mary’s Home, Manitowoc. Val was born April 12, 1912 at Manitowoc, daughter of the late Joseph and Catherine (Hoslar) Cherny. She grew up in Manitowoc and graduated from Lincoln High School. For a time she was employed with the Wisconsin Telephone Company. On July 20, 1940, she married Capt. Vess R. Miller in Pascagoula, Miss. Vess preceded her in death April 4, 1960. Val enjoyed crafts, sewing, bowling, playing bingo, duplicate bridge and Las Vegas. Survivors include a daughter: Carol J. (Howard E.) Young, Manitowoc; a son: Patrick D. (Sarah J.) Miller, Manitowoc; six grandchildren: Douglas (Ann) Young, Waukesha; Rebecca (George) Novitski, Mishicot; Vess R. Miller II, Manitowoc; Bradley A. (Carol) Miller, Manitowoc; Ann M. (Brian) Hetue, Manitowoc; Bryan D. (Suzanne) Miller, Fredonia, 16 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, Vess, Val is preceded in death by a grandson: Robin Bradley: her first husband: Charles Reindl; two brothers and a sister. Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, April 8, 2005 at the Reinbold & Pfeffer Family Funeral Home, 818 State St., Manitowoc, with Deacon Al Boeldt officiating with burial in Evergreen Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call after 9 a.m. Friday to the time of service at 10:30 a.m.
